Mildred Monchow stepped into a remarkable legacy when she took over the old country store following her husband Louis’s sudden passing in 1943. Louis, whose father was an owner dating back to the 1850s, built the store into a community cornerstone. For the next four decades, Mildred led the business with grace and style, cementing her place as a respected business owner and beloved community figure. We honor her now with “Millie’s Country Closet”, a boutique of style and substance.
Millie’s Country Closet is a thoughtfully curated shopping experience within the historic Marilla Country Store. As just the third family owner in the store’s 175-year history, Sandy Grunzweig is honored to begin a new chapter that celebrates uniqueness, fashion, and expression for every body.
